San Diego Weekend = Fun Fun Fun

A photostory of our fun weekend.

We visited Sea World.

Taryn was scared because of ...

This bad boy.

This is a polar bear.

This is to prevent dingleberries.

Taryn's new friend, Snuffleupagus. She won him. And yes, that's the real spelling.

He was nice and bought us a round of drinks.

My friends.

More from the annals of Threadless.
Yes, I know that's not grammatically correct.

Pol Pot?!?!?

Inspired by Mr. John Mayer, I decided to try out the celebrity face recognition at MyHeritage.

Here's the picture I used.

There is a 74% chance that I am Aung San Suu Kyi

And a 61% chance that I am Pol Pot

I also have some acting genes in me too.

Either way, I am most likely from Southeast Asia. However the fact that I am 13% more likely to be a Nobel Peace Prize winner as opposed to a cruel dictator makes me happy. This has been a successful test.

John Mayer in Concert

0926061930a

I have to say, it was pretty dang awesome. He sounded much better in person than he does on his album. He played mostly stuff from his new album (Continuum - you should go grab it if you haven't already), but he also did a couple of songs from his older albums too.

We sat pretty close to the front even though we got there only 40 minutes before the concert started, so that was cool. Tammy tried to hold our turf with the blanket, but after one song we wrapped it up and stood for the rest of his set. There was also this really overzealous JM fanboy next to us that reminded us of someone mentioned in the previous post. I thought he played for the other team because of his fervor for John Mayer. He knew all of the songs that he was gonna play either before they started, or after one note was played. it was pretty awesome. And funny.

0926062025d

John Mayer played second before Sheryl Crow, so that allowed us to leave right after he finished. Surprisingly there were still a grip of her fans there at the venue, but most of them were probably 35+.

And to top off the night, some dude almost got his head crushed by a train right in front of our eyes. I don't want to type up the whole story, so here is the condensed version.

Waiting at crosswalk. Train things come down so we have to wait. Train is damn long, and we wait for 10 minutes. There is no end in sight. Train suddenly stops, and the traincar in front of us is just an empty platform. We jump onto and over the car to get to the other side. Victory. The train starts moving all of a sudden. Fat guy stuck on top of train. He sits on edge to jump off. His friend holds his hand. He jumps, but because the train is moving so fast (< 1mph), he falls forward, and then slowly slowly falls backward. His head is less than a foot from the train track. His friend watches. Tammy and I think that it all happened in slow-motion, but realize that it happened in real-time. It's just that the guy is slow and so is the train. Bad times.

And then we got yogurt.

John Mayer

Tammy and I are going to see this man tonight. I am so excited.

Mr. Roymund told me and Andy that we couldn't go with him because he didn't have tickets for the show in Irvine. Therefore we were really surprised when he just happened to have extra tickets for the show tonight. He was nice enough to let us pay double what he paid for tickets, just to let us know that he magically pulled some "extra" tickets out of his black foot.

I just hope Sheryl Crow gets off the stage real quick.

I hate Fantasy Football

I joined a Fantasy Football league with a couple of my buddies for this season. It was the first time in 5 years that I've done anything fantastic. And my team is 2-0. But you know what? I freaking hate it. This is why.

I am a Raider fan. Yes, I know they suck. Yes, I know that Al Davis is insane. Yes, I know that they love signing over-the-hill free agents who can't tackle. But nevertheless, no matter how close I've been to jumping on the Charger bandwagon for the past 2 years, I haven't done it because there is some small part of my being that tells me that they'll get over the hump (aka, Al Davis might move on).

This past Sunday, the Raiders played the Ravens. I have the Ravens' Defense and Randy Moss on my team. These are some of the stupid thoughts that were going through my head while I watched the game:

  • I hope the Raiders win.
  • I hope the Ravens shut them out.
  • Moss better score a TD.
  • McAlister better get some picks.
  • I hope Aaron Brooks throws the ball to Moss.
  • Oh crap, he's injured.
  • Damn it Walter, stop losing the damn ball! (6 turnovers)
  • Wait, that's a good thing huh?!
  • Freaking Eli.
  • Crap. Wait. Hurray! I have him too!
And this was my Sunday. Like I said, I hate Fantasy Sports.

Sorry, but I have to go change my lineup for next week now.

Happy Anniversary Tammy!

Here is a picture diary of an amazing 6 years:

I had to think real hard like this to figure out what I would post on. But I was able to figure it all out.

I was almost as skinny as China-man Butch when we first started dating

Then I somehow became really fat like this. But throughout this, Tammy still loved me.
(I could barely open my eyes then. She loved me because of my muscles... see below)

Like this... wait, I think this is someone else.

Anyways, we've both matured over the years...

Or at least one of us has

Sometimes we even look normal.

It's pretty hard to believe that it's already been this long right? I still remember our first summer and how you always made me so nervous. We've both changed so much since then, but at the same time I feel like things aren't so different. You still laugh at my jokes (although not as often), and I still think you're good-looking like me.

Anyways, to wrap this whirlwind of a tour, I dedicate this post to Tammy, the most beautiful, intelligent, caring, "persuasive", independent woman, with the cutest vienna sausage toes.

Love you baby! and Happy Anniversary!

Special Powers

Roy has a special power where he has the ability to bring bad luck to any team he cheers for. It started off with Cal football, where we were watching a game at his and Weinie's apt. Every time Roy went into his room to check his email or something, Cal made a good play. Every time he came and watched, Cal made a bad play. We tried locking him in his room for the second half of the game, but eventually he got out and I think Cal lost.

After the first Korea game:
Roy: korea baby
Roy: they won because i tuned in for the second half
Roy: thats when they made their goals
Roy: SHEKKI
paul: lies
Roy: i might have messed it up for the cal game, but i come through when it counts big
paul: the cal game was big
paul: what about the laker game
Roy: that wasnt my fault
Roy: the korea game is the biggest because it represents nations

Before today's game:
paul: shekki
Roy: i will cheer for korea
paul: i'm scared now
paul: i will post this on my blog after the game
paul: you better hope we win
Roy: dont worry, we will man.. stop friggin thinking that i'm bad luck for every team that i root for
paul: i don't think it
Roy: yea you do
Roy: you guys kicked me out of my own living room during the cal game five years ago
Roy: sheks
paul: hahah
paul: it was less than 5 years ago
paul: shekki
Roy: bastard

Happy Birthday John!

Just wait until next year sir.

Elise handsomely posing for the camera.

Roy is so happy here. I think he was talking about his love for pickles.

Then we decided to have a little dunk contest:

Pretty fierce.

John can't help but smile when he throws it down. This was his meanest dunk face.

Roach getting stuffed by the rim.

Taryn doing a real no-look dunk. Much better than Cedric Ceballos or Dee Brown.
